Memorial Day weekend, day 1
It had been a bit since we'd spent the weekend in Pittsfield, and we took full advantage of today's gorgeous weather to thoroughly enjoy Mim & Pop's Pool & House of Fun.
The boys enjoyed breakfast on the new picnic table Mim & Pop built and painted for them!
Afterwards, Quinn found out he got to open his birthday present early, and he was SO excited!
He surprised Pop & Mim by reading his birthday card out loud all by himself!
Now the kindergarten dance breaks will never end...with our very own copy of Just Dance Kids for Wii! Cioci, Mim and Cole got into the dancing action with Quinn, who was a pro. While dancing, he kept yelling out "this is SO EASY!" He is a huge fan of this game and I'm sure we'll all be working on our moves...
Later, tired almost-birthday-boy #2 got to open a present too.
Thank goodness he had lots of helpers!
Declan's own bank! A VW bus bank. Declan was thrilled and wanted to play with it. This will be such a fun addition to his room.
Mater came out to play this afternoon and Pop gave each of the boys a chance to ride and drive. Cole was thrilled!
Declan loved driving so much he barely wanted to take a hand off the wheel to give a little wave.
We had lots of fun in the sun today with Cole and Quinn leading the charge in the pool. They both could touch the bottom (tiptoes for Cole, "regular feet" (as he said) for Quinn) and so were having a blast motoring around in the shallow end with the help of tubes and noodles.

afternoon birthday fun
We'd been counting down the days until Nick's birthday party and were so happy that it finally arrived today! We headed over to the Austins' house this afternoon to join birthday boy Nick and many Barrows friends for a Kidzfun birthday bash.
Among the fun were a snowball fight in May and relay races!

The boys enjoyed pizza, cake and juice...not a bad way to kick off the long weekend!
Barrows wrapped up their Spirit Week with "Freaky Friday." Quinn decided to interpret this category with being silly. His first and most important request? "Mom, can you give me a mohawk?"

Barrows Fun Run
Barrows held their Fun Run and Ice Cream Social this afternoon. Did someone say ice cream? We were there!
We headed over in time to see the end of the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders racing. Meanwhile, the boys jumped right into Miss Theresa's Kidzfun activities for the younger set. They had a blast, including parachute fun.
Once the activities wrapped up, we checked out the ice cream stations. The boys collected huge cups of vanilla ice cream and loaded them up with a plethora of toppings: whipped cream, jimmies, m&ms, oreos and marshmallows. They enjoyed their pre-dinner treats with Nick and Natalie who had made equally delicious concoctions!
We came home in time to start up dinner, but the boys wanted to get a little more outside playtime in before calling it a night. They were still outside when Dad arrived home from work, so he jumped into the fun for a few - what a treat!
Tom did us a huge favor and jumped on the mowing this evening, finishing the yard in record time. (We may have to install headlights on the lawnmower. Father's Day is coming up...) Nice to have that checked off the list ahead of schedule!

Stop & Shop tour
Cole, Declan and I joined Connect The Tots for a Healthy Kids Stop & Shop tour this morning. Cole's favorite part? At the end each kid was allowed to pick any fruit or vegetable to enjoy. Declan chose a pear and Cole went for this lovely apple. He was so thrilled! He couldn't believe that "we've never gotten this kind of apple. It looks like a tooth!"a boy and his treat
